Cyberecital and Jeffrey Biegel

Jeffrey Biegel started his amazing career as a pianist, and blossomed his multi-talent as a composer and arranger. He is still an active pianist with mesmerizing touch and electrifying techniques. One fascinating fact is that he was able to speak and hear only after surgery when he was three. It is like reverse of Beethoven, who lost hearing at later years but still composed masterpieces.

We can guess his musical talent is based in his family because his relatives include pianist Herman Kosoff and Dr. Sonia Slatin. He studied at the Juilliard School with Adel Marcus from 1979 to 1985. His Juilliard years with the legendary artist and teacher provided a deep passion for the great tradition of pianism.

Jeffrey Biegel received numerous honors and can be called a musical pioneer. He was the co-winner of the prestigious First Grand Prize in the 1989 Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud International Piano Competition. He was also chosen as the first pianist to record for the Steinway & Sons recording label. His ‘A Steinway Christmas Album’ reached the #1 spot on the Billboard chart.

He performed the first live online recital in July 1997 from Steinway Hall located in New York. Nowadays, Youtube is very well known and many live casts or streaming is available but it was a very bold and creative achievement in 1997. Mr. Biegel’s recent works include two world Premieres for piano and orchestra in commissioning projects: PDQ BACH ‘Concerto for Simply Grand Piano and Orchestra’ and Jimmy Webb’s ‘Nocturne for Piano and Orchestra’.
